“Ride the Subway” short animation released in 2017

Torpedo Eizo Co., Ltd. (Head office: Sumida-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Riyota Sano) is a short animated film “Ride the Subway” by the Kyoto Municipal Transportation Bureau. ・The business market of the world’s largest animation film festival “Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2025” held in Annecy ・MIFA (MARCHE) It was selected as a screening and exhibition of “Indie Anime Special” booth at International du Film d’Animation.

This work introduces excellent Japanese indie animation to overseas markets, and is selected from among a large number of domestic entries for the purpose of creating opportunities for international business matching, financing, and joint production.

■ What does Kyoto Municipal Transportation Bureau say “get on the subway”?
“Ride on the subway” is a subway/city bus support character aimed at promoting the use of Kyoto Municipal Subway/City Bus. “Uzumae Moe”, “Matsuga Saki”, “Ono Misa”, “Uzumasa Rei”, “Ono no Ryo”, “Jujo Takeru” and others. Since it was adopted as a poster for promoting the use of subways in 2013, it has been developed in various public relations media, not just related public relations of the Kyoto Municipal Transportation Bureau.

“Get on the subway” short animation

■ Overview of the short animation “Ride the Subway”
This work is a short animation produced with the support of over 10 million yen by crowdfunding conducted by the animation production company Torpedo Eizo in 2016 with the permission of the Kyoto Municipal Transportation Bureau. It was completed in 2017 and was released in theaters at the end of the same year. It is now available on YouTube as well.
■ About Torpedo Eizo
Torpedo Eizo is an anime company that specializes in producing short videos such as commercials and music videos. After its founding in Kyoto in 2012, it has moved to Tokyo and now has offices in Sumida Ward and Akihabara. Starting with the production of an anime commercial for 2014 “Ride the Subway”, a crowdfundy production of short animations in 2016. We are actively involved in the management of the content of “get on the subway” such as planning and management of the program and hosting the 10th anniversary project in 2023.
