Tokyo and Anime Tokyo Station, an anime exhibition base operated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Japan Video Association We have 236,393 people (as of November 19, 2025) from home and abroad as a facility that conveys the charm of Japanese animation to the world as a motto.

Sponsored by Tokyo, the Anime Archive Vision 2025 2025, Anime Archives From Now – Video, Sound, Subtitles -” will be held on Thursday, December 11th.
Since 1917, when the first animation works in Japan were released in Asakusa Roku Ward, animation has evolved with video technology that continues to innovate, and has been preserved in a variety of media formats to this day. In addition to video, audio, and subtitles, the production materials that produce them are also valuable cultural assets. In order to pass on these to the future in a form that can be utilized for business development, industrial promotion, and human resource development, it is essential to renew the media and technology, secure funds and human resources, and deal with rights handling. These are common issues in the animation industry.
In this symposium, we invite experts who are active at the forefront of video archives from the perspective of utilization, and take a bird’s eye view of the “past” and “future” of the animation and video archives. Create opportunities to consider the mechanisms of sustainable archives.

・The whole picture of the animation archive and the definition of the original
Organize the structure of the archive and the concept of “original” based on the specifications and flows common to the industry.
Looking back on the 100-year history of the media, we look forward to future preservation strategies.
・What is an archive specification that facilitates utilization?
Verify practical specifications such as media diversification, renewal technology updates, storage standards, and cost structures.
・Urgent of human resource development to support the animation video archive
We will discuss the human resource image and development system necessary for continuous archive operation.
– Sustainable archiving in terms of the cost of preservation
We will try to consider the direction of archives based on the balance between (real media) and future (bone digital) preservation/disclosure.

Since 2008, he has been engaged in video technical coordination work. During the transition from film to digital, experience a variety of media conversion and technology support on the front line. Since 2013, he has been in charge of digital remastering of more than 100 works as an archive coordinator. While fusing film technology with the latest digital technology, we pursue restoration of the visual expression at the time of release. We are working on preserving and reusing video assets through long-term storage of video materials and proposing and disseminating management systems.

Joined Exa International Co., Ltd. in 1996. Engaged in a wide variety of tape dubbing services for both commercial and consumer use in the Video Processing Department. In 2002, he was transferred to the sales department. We are struggling every day to deal with the expertise of the video industry and the ever-changing market. We are also focusing on devising marketing strategies that accurately capture consumer needs. As a sales representative who knows the site of the archive, he acts as a bridge between technology and memory.

In 2008, he joined Tokyo Development Center Co., Ltd. After being assigned to the accounting department, he deepened his interest in the field of video archives, and since 2012 he has also served as a sales department. In 2019, he changed jobs to Q Tech Co., Ltd. (now Coupe Co., Ltd.). He fuses high image quality technology (upconvert) with the knowledge of film archives, and is involved in preservation and restoration of works regardless of genre such as animation or live action as a “digital archive coordinator”. In 2023, the 4K digitally remastered version of the movie “Moving” that he was in charge of won the Best Restoration Film Award at the 80th Venice International Film Festival.

Joined Sony PCL Co., Ltd. in 2009. Resident at a broadcasting station specializing in animation, he is in charge of various tasks such as editing promotional video, managing content distribution, and managing subtitles (closed captions). Since 2022, he has worked on exhibitions, event planning, and virtual production-related sales in the business promotion department, and is currently in charge of cutting animation and editing video. It serves as a bridge that connects production and technology at the site of the archives in the storage and utilization of anime content.

Since 1984, he has worked in the animation industry for 38 years, mainly editing the TV series, and is currently in charge of managing video and audio materials at Nippon Animation Co., Ltd. Based on the experience of continuing to see the changes in recording media at the site, we are exploring future preservation and operation methods in an in-house environment where various formats are mixed. Alarms are sounding from the scene about how to keep the animation.
