This work will be the first production underside of the U-NEXT animation.

“Kujima Utabaya Hororo” is a manga by Akira Konno, and was serialized from October 2021 to May 2024 in Shogakukan’s monthly manga magazine “Gessan”.
This work is a home comedy in which the mysterious creature “Kujima” lives in the Konota family, which has a slightly tingling atmosphere, and breathes a new wind. The surreal and heartwarming developments depicted the gradual change in family relationships due to the existence of Kujima, and received high acclaim. Received the “U-NEXT Award” in the “Next Coming Manga Awards 2022” Comics Category.

This time, this work has been decided to start broadcasting from April 2025. Along with this announcement, teaser footage, cast, character visuals, etc. have been lifted. In addition, comments have arrived from Yuri Kanzuki, who plays the role of Kujima, Ayumu Murase, who plays the role of Konta, and Akira Konno, the original author. Please look forward to the special daily life woven by the mysterious creature Kujima and the Kouta family.

Q1. Could you tell us about the charm of this work?

The fantasy of the Kujima comes out, but the Konota family accepts the Kujima, and as they spend their casual days together, their fantasy fades away. It’s also attractive to have a place that makes us think that Kujima is really around us, and a place where I want to think about what I want to do if I spend my time with Kujima.
The more I read the original and the script, the more I’ve been fascinated by Kujima’s hateful hatefulness.

Q2. Could you please let me know if you have any thoughts about playing a character?

I was conscious of Kujima’s beak. I was especially conscious of the sounds of conversation, small voices, and screams, but I was especially conscious of the sounds I eat. There were times when I was so conscious that my mouth was sharp and I couldn’t hear the lines, and I ended up saying NG… It was more difficult than the Russian to speak Japanese accents, so I struggled a bit…!
However, I was frustrated that I couldn’t do it, so I practiced desperately when I was a child. I am grateful for myself at that time!

Q1. Could you tell us about the charm of this work?

After reading the original, I felt that it was a genre that I had never experienced before and the atmosphere of laughter that welled up. It is exquisitely comfortable to match with the beauty of the painting drawn by the teacher!
And above all, I think that the strange and foul mouth is attractive and cute.

Q2. Could you please let me know if you have any thoughts about playing a character?

I thought it was a very ordinary junior high school student, but I find it interesting to see the unexpectedly high analytical ability and the sense of philosophicalness that he shows from his own perspective.
I want to cherish the fact that my heart, which had slowed down until I met Kujima, gradually began to warm up without me noticing it!
