Graduated from Nihon University College of Art, Department of Fine Arts. Became a picture book author after working as a designer at an advertising company.
There are many works such as “Mischievous Lara-chan” (Poplar Award, Poplar, Chico, Door no Kuni no Chiko), “Mouse-kun no Kimochi” (Poplar Publishing).
In 2005, he won the 28th Konami Konami Literature Award for his achievements in combination with Noriko Ueno.
In 2020, he won the Children’s Culture Merit Award selected by the Japan Children’s Literature Association.

Noriko Ueno/Picture
Born in Saitama Prefecture.
Graduated from Nihon University College of Art, Department of Fine Arts. After working as an illustrator, he became a picture book author.
There are many works such as “Nezumi-kun’s Picture Book” series such as “Nezumi-kun’s Cosch” (Kodansha Publishing Cultural Award, Poplar Publishing), and “Chico of the Doorokuni” (Poplar Publishing).
Died in February 2019.
